MEDICAL USE OF POT PROVES BENEFICIAL

In response to E. Bruce Preece's May 28 letter, "It's poison for
dogs; it can't be good," there is and has been much disagreement on
the use of pot as medicine or for recreational use. Yet I cannot
agree with Preece's statement that pot is not good medicine for
anyone. It has been of much help for many who I have known personally
in dealing with pain, lack of hunger and anxiety.

I also do not agree that because pot is "poison for dogs" that it is
the same for humans. Chocolate (real chocolate) is poison for dogs,
but not for humans. I'm sure Preece has eaten plenty of chocolate in
his lifetime (as have most) and yet he is still alive and more than
likely will keep eating chocolate until old age or something else
ends his life. Of course, eating too much chocolate is unhealthy for
anyone, as would be true for overindulgence in the use of pot. And I
do hope Preece will have a long and healthy life himself and that he
doesn't have to use pot himself as medicine or for recreational use
if he chooses not to.
