MEDICAL POT LAW WAY TOO LIMITED

As a Florida resident who suffers from renal cell carcinoma and
papillary cancer, among other severe conditions, seeing the tug and
pull that has taken place since Tallahassee approved the use of a
single, high-CBD strain of cannabis has left me with mixed feelings.
It is good to know that our state government has finally recognized
the medical value of marijuana, but the efforts at implementing the
law appear to be a perfect illustration of just how terrible
politicians are at making decisions that should be made only by
doctors and their patients.

After following the public hearing on implementation of SB 1030 that
occurred Monday, it should be evident to all that this law was
designed to satisfy the needs of politicians, not the ill.

The few patients who will be helped by this strain will find it
expensive and hard to obtain, and they will be the lucky ones. Those
of us who need the appetite stimulation that only other strains can
offer will get no relief at all. This is why we need Amendment 2: more
flexibility for the Department of Health, more access for sick
Floridians and a lot less red tape.
