PEOPLE HAVE ANSWER TO POT QUESTION

When are our politicians going to get things right? When in London,
Justice Minister Peter MacKay said his party was not in favour of
legalizing or decriminalizing marijuana in "No plan to decriminalize
pot, MacKay insists" (Aug. 14).

If the federal government is against legalizing and decriminalizing
pot, why doesn't it change the law on alcohol? It is a more dangerous
drug than pot.

Whenever I see or hear of a person charged with impaired driving, it
is alcohol - not pot.

In April 1953, coming off a 58-day drinking binge, I was admitted to
hospital and told I was six months from a six-foot by six-foot hole.
Today, one day at a time, I have been sober 22,264 days.

Tobacco products kill people, so why are they legal?

There was a poll on decriminalizing pot in which 676 voted, 559, or
83%, voted yes and 117, or 17%, voted no. Minister MacKay, who knows
better, the people or you?
