LEGALIZING POT CARRIES RISKS, BUT SO DOES PROHIBITION

The argument that legal marijuana will lead to widespread use has no
basis in reality. If anything, illegality creates forbidden fruit
allure. Americans didn't begin to use marijuana in significant numbers
until after it was made illegal and our federal government began
funding reefer madness junk science. Despite criminal penalties, the
U.S. has almost double the lifetime rate of marijuana use as the
Netherlands where marijuana has been legally available for decades.
Marijuana prohibition is the epitome of government failure.
