Reniff VOTE YES ON A TO STOP COMMERCIAL POT GROWING Your editorial on Sept. 20 was right on target, the supporters of Measure B are being deceiful with their ads. Measure A is about limiting large commercial marijuana farms that have sprouted up all over Butte County. Yes on Measure A will still allow granny to grow a few plants for her own medicinal use as under Proposition 215. The "Yes on Measure B" group wants no limits on the amount of marijuana they can farm in our neighborhoods. They talk about property rights. What they want is the right to contaminate our neighborhood. And make a lot of money in the process. These commericial growers, many with criminal records, also farm in the mountains where there are fewer prying eyes. These criminals destroy our environment by terracing the hillsides and damning up our streams to plant their crops. They pollute the ground with chemical fertilizers and pesticides that kill our fish and game. These people do not care about your rights. One of your most precious rights is the right to life. Last year, Pamela Devitt was walking near her home when a grower's vicious dogs jumped the fence around the marijuana patch they were guarding and attacked and killed Pamela. Here in Butte County, there are several missing persons/homicide victims who are dead or missing as a direct result of the marijuana problem in Butte County. Please vote to put the commercial growers out of business by voting yes on Measure A and no on Measure B. - - Perry L. Reniff, Oroville - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
