Collner AMENDMENT 2 WOULD OPEN DOOR TO RECREATIONAL POT FLORIDA TODAY's recent endorsement of Amendment 2, the legalization of medical marijuana, left out some very important counterpoints to the argument. To begin with, our Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey has spoken about Amendment 2 and, along with most other sheriffs in Florida, has come out forcefully against the amendment because of the additional street crime they foresee. If that is not enough reason to vote "no," perhaps your readers should be aware the law is full of loopholes the state Legislature and the Department of Health will have to close, such as how close to a school someone can open a pot shop. Additionally, for those patients who are truly in need of the medical benefits of THC (Dronabinol), there is Marinol, which is FDA approved and can be legitimately doctor prescribed and pharmacy dispensed. Florida does not need this backdoor attempt to open up a Pandora's box of marijuana legalization. Vote "no" on Amendment 2. J.D. Collner Cocoa - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
