Let me see if I have this straight. It's OK to allow everyone over 21
years of age to buy as much alcohol and tobacco as they want, even
though tobacco is habit-forming and causes lung and heart disease and
even though drinking too much alcohol destroys brain cells, causes
liver disease and can destroy your judgment so that you drive
dangerously, maybe get into fights, abuse your spouse and engage in
other criminal behavior.

And it's OK to have doctors prescribe various narcotic drugs like
oxycodone that can be dangerously habit-forming, but it's not OK to
have doctors prescribe marijuana to seriously ill people who can
obtain pain and nausea relief because it might give the wrong idea to
our children.

And I thought that it was only crazy on the other side of Alice's
looking glass. We people are the craziest animals.
