HUMANE ALTERNATIVE

It is disheartening that Florida's medical marijuana proposal,
Amendment 2, was defeated. Alachua County Sheriff Sadie Darnell and
other law enforcement officials around the state resorted to
half-truths and scare tactics to dissuade voters.

Those with debilitating medical conditions could have been aided by
the amendment. For now, they will have to continue relying upon
prescription drugs that often make them even sicker, or risk arrest
and prosecution if they choose to use cannabis to treat their symptoms.

Yet there is hope. Out of the 60 percent needed, nearly 58 percent of
Florida voters said yes. Perhaps now our state legislators will take
notice of the people's collective voice and take action on expanding
medical marijuana. It will provide those with serious medical
conditions A-a=C2=80" who have exhausted all other means of treatment a=C2

with a more organic, safe and humane alternative.

I urge all like-minded citizens to contact lawmakers in
Tallahassee.
