LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN

After the narrow defeat of Amendment 2 in last year's election,
supporters of legalizing medical marijuana are mounting another bid
to have the Florida State Legislature consider legalizing marijuana
for patients suffering from chronic or terminal diseases. Republican
state Sen. Jeff Brandes of St. Petersburg has filed SB 528, which is
a more clearly defined and not-so-broad proposal to legalized
controlled medical marijuana use.

I have seen the deterioration of a person's body, mind and soul from
ALS. Many individuals receiving chemotherapy report that they suffer
less from nausea after using marijuana. Terminally ill patients in
pain just want their remaining days to be pain free and to transition
with dignity and peace. The Charlotte's Web law is a good step in the
right direction, yet it has not been implemented because of the
bickering by our legislators over its control and use. Meanwhile our
friends and loved ones continue to suffer.

I encourage supporters to write your state and congressional
lawmakers and ask them to stop dragging their feet.
