MEDICAL CANNABIS WOULD HELP MANY

I writing to encourage the people of Fremont to support the Cannabis
Compassion and Care Act. This bill, LB 643, would allow patients to
use, possess and cultivate a limited amount of cannabis under the
supervision of a physician.

We spent over 10 years working with doctors trying to find a medicine
that would help our disabled son to replace or replicate what medical
cannabis did for him. Currently the only legal form of cannabis in
the state of Nebraska is called Marinol, which is available via prescription.

We tried Marinol with my son but the THC content was not high enough
to have any effect and the cost was over $1,000 a month. Our business
is based in Fremont so we knew we could never move out of state to
get him the help he needed and we where doubtful he could live on his
own. This past fall after consulting with his doctor and much prayer
we took a huge leap of faith and moved our adult disabled son to the
state of Colorado to become a resident there so he would qualify for
medical cannabis. I can't even begin to express to you the financial
burden it is to support two households and the stress that comes with
having a disabled son 1,000 miles away from home with no family close
by to assist him.

With the cannabis he is succeeding and has been able to function on
his own but not without many trials that have been difficult to
overcome being so far form home.

There are many families across this state that can not do what we
have done. Please contact your senator and encourage them to support
LB643 so others like my son can get the help they need and that we
could someday bring my son back home to Nebraska.
