Fiely STATE ISSUE 3 WORDING COULD BACKFIRE I respond to the Wednesday Dispatch article "Pot group going to court over wording." Even as a longtime proponent of marijuana legalization, I was set to vote no on State Issue 3 because it would amend the Ohio Constitution to legalize the demon weed and create a monopoly for a few select growers. I do not believe our constitution should be used as a Christmas tree for every special-interest group to hang an ornament. However, after watching the GOP-dominated state Ballot Board try to sabotage the democratic process with its biased ballot language, not to mention the ridiculous rationale offered by the anti-Issue 3 campaigners who fear our schoolchildren will be loading their backpacks with spiked Gummy Bears, I am more than willing to bag my principles and vote in favor of an imperfect law, if only for spite. Meantime, the millions of pot smokers in Ohio can continue to send their money to the Mexican drug cartels. DENNIS P. FIELY Columbus - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
