MORE SMOKING BANS LIKELY ON THE WAY

Council has endorsed Ottawa Public Health researching a ban on water
pipes and other non-tobacco smoking in workplaces.

The request will go to the health board for consideration, but it's
almost certain the health unit will look into increased anti-smoking
measures, which would affect hookah and marijuana lounges.

A ban on e-cigarettes in workplaces, which includes bars and
restaurants, would also be considered. The province also has proposed
legislation restricting e-cigarettes.

The city's bylaw services branch and legal department will be asked to
weigh in during the review. Council wants any recommendations from the
review to be implemented before fall 2016.
