Officers went to the Farm Assists Cannabis Resource Centre at 2320 Gottingen St. at about 2 p.m. "There is a search warrant being executed," Const. Dianne Woodworth, a Halifax Regional Police spokeswoman, said in an interview about an hour later. "It was in response to a public complaint that we received, and we had a duty to investigate." Woodworth did not know if any arrests had been made or if any substances had been seized. "It's just underway, so we don't have a whole (lot) of information." It is not the first raid at the dispensary. In September 2014, police charged the operators of the shop with drug trafficking and related offences. They also seized a large quantity of marijuana, cash and equipment. Owners Christopher Enns and Sherri Lee Reeve hold medical marijuana licences that permit them to produce and store plants. They are president and vice-president of the medical-marijuana-distributing Halifax Compassionate Club. The pair were also arrested after raids at an East Chezzetcook home and a Porters Lake hydroponics business called the Grow-Op Shop in March 2013. A woman who identified herself only as Trish was outside the Farm Assists shop while police were still at the scene Thursday. She said she went there to buy cannabis oil gelcaps for a friend. She said the store only sells to people with Health Canada licences to buy marijuana, but she thinks anyone should have the freedom to buy it. "To me, it's irrelevant. It's a plant, and a plant from Mother Nature should never be illegal." Trish said cannabis has the power to heal cancer. She said the store owners run their business out of compassion for people who use marijuana as medicine. - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
