One of the robbers, Clorenzo Griffin, 38, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Sacramento to conspiring to commit a robbery and faces up to 12 years in federal prison when he is sentenced March 9. Griffin was a deputy U.S. marshal. Co-defendant Rodney Rackley, 24, of Miami received a six-year sentence on Wednesday. The other defendant, Andre Jamison, 40, also of Miami, was sentenced to 87 months last week. The October 2014 robbery happened in the parking lot of a Yuba City motel. The three armed men posed as police when they robbed marijuana dealers of 24 pounds of pot in garbage bags. According to Griffin's plea agreement in federal court, the homicide detective "had parked his vehicle and was walking to his room" when he spotted the robbers take the pot. The detective later identified the three suspects. Investigators also recovered video surveillance tape from the motel, corroborating what the detective and the victims said. The men were eventually arrested by the California Highway Patrol and Sutter County sheriff's deputies. - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
