REGULATION KEY TO SAFE MARIJUANA MARKET

To the editor:

In his letter of March 1st, Larry Comeau is guilty of some backwards
thinking ('The cons outweigh the pros on pot', The Recorder and
Times). For decades young people have had access to hash cookies and
cannabis (marijuana) in general in Colorado and throughout North
America; this isn't something new since Colorado ended cannabis prohibition.

Organized crime is associated with the black market and prohibition,
not the other way around. When citizens force government to regulate
the relatively safe, extremely popular God-given plant, organized
crime diminishes from the equation.

Further, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau isn't "rushing" and the effort
to end one of North America's worst policy failures in history isn't
"questionable." The fight to re-legalize cannabis has been ongoing
and today the majority of North Americans support ending the discredited farce.

Ending cannabis prohibition cannot come soon enough.
