4/20 AND THE FUTURE

Woot woot! Happy 4/20! How are you celebrating?

- -Cuatro Veinte Siempre

Woot woot yourself! I will be on the road in the Pacific Northwest,
enjoying all kinds of delicious and legal cannabis products. I would
also like to celebrate by recognizing everything the cannabis freedom
movement has accomplished this year. Here is a partial list:

Thanks to the tireless work done by dedicated activists all over the
country, more states and cities are decriminalizing cannabis. Big ups
to New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Chicago, Miami,
Key West, the entire state of Delaware (and Nebraska!) and all of the
other states, cities and counties that have decided to stop being
dicks toward cannabis users. City by city and state by state, the
dominoes keep falling and weed keeps winning.

Last week, the Drug Enforcement Administration announced it will look
into rescheduling cannabis. Right now, the feds still consider weed a
Schedule I drug, meaning it has no accepted medical use and a high
potential for abuse, just like other Schedule 1 drugs such as LSD and
heroin. According to the DEA, cocaine and oxycodone are safer than
marijuana. Bwahaha. That may change this summer, but I'm not holding
my breath. Asking the DEA whether pot should remain illegal is like
asking a fox if chickens are delicious, especially when the fox gets
billions of dollars per year to go after chickens. Listen, cannabis
shouldn't even be on the list of prohibited drugs. A rescheduling (to
Schedule II or III) would create an entirely different set of
problems for cannabis manufacturers, but could be a step in the right
direction. It would be awesomely awesome if cannabis was removed from
the schedule completely. There is no logical or sane reason for
cannabis to be on anyone's list of "dangerous narcotics." Perhaps
this summer, common sense and logic will win the day.

There's a bunch of stuff to celebrate. 2016 may be the biggest year
for cannabis ever. California, Arizona and Nevada are poised to
legalize adult use this year. Massachusetts and Florida also have a
shot. If activists can manage to hold it together, we could have
legal weed nationwide by 2020. #squadgoals.

And that's just a few things. The cannabis freedom army is peacefully
and gently kicking all the ass right now. Happy 4/20.

What is the right dosage for an edible?

- -Indy Gestion

I wish I knew. Everyone is different. Body weight, personal tolerance
levels, how much you've had to eat beforehand, all kinds of things
factor into how an edible will make you feel. Anecdotal experience
shows me that 10 milligrams of THC per 100 pounds of person is a good
rule of thumb. One way to get an idea of your ideal dosage without
going too far is to get some of those "microdose" candies that are
usually about 5 milligrams of THC apiece, eat a few and keep track of
how you feel. That should give you a good idea of what you can handle. Have fun.
