JUST LEGALIZE ALL DRUGS

I agree wholeheartedly with B. Mark Podolak's letter. I would go even
further. Some years ago, during my graduate studies, I read Thomas
Szasz' research on illicit drugs. Radical as it may seem, his findings
convinced me that only legalization of all drugs makes any societal
sense.

Provide any and all drugs to consenting adults at the ridiculously low
cost of legally manufacturing the drugs and you remove the entire
criminal element from the equation. The savings, across the board,
would provide every Canadian with a bounty of social benefits.

It would trade irrationality for common sense, and bring dignity back
to a corrupt and unmanageable revolving-door criminal system. There
would be money for everyone wanting treatment and compassion for
anyone stuck in the unenviable position of addiction. Arguing over
safe injection sites at this stage of the game? Unbelievable!
