WATCH OUT, MEASURE A

Medical Marijuana Advocates Push for New Rules Regarding Cultivation, Commerce

The Inland Cannabis Farmers' Association has again held a petition
drive to put pot on the local ballot. The group turned in signatures
Monday (June 6)-they are currently being counted-for the Medical
Cannabis Cultivation & Commerce Initiative 2016 (aka MC3).

According to the initiative summary, MC3 would repeal Measure A, the
ordinance passed by popular vote in 2014-and amended via Measure H in
this week's primary-regulating cultivation of medicinal cannabis in
Butte County. Then it would amend county code to allow for
dispensaries. It also would set rules regarding the cultivation,
manufacturing, testing, distribution, transportation and storage of
medical marijuana.

"By regulating the commerce in medical cannabis in the same
accountable way we do licit products like alcohol and tobacco, we
disrupt illicit trade and youth engagement," ICFA Executive Director
Jessica MacKenzie (pictured) said in a release.
