Contact: http://www.thenownewspaper.com/ Details: http://www.mapinc.org/media/1462 LITTLE MERCY FOR DEALERS We've been reporting a lot about the chaos fentanyl has brought to our nation's streets and alleyways, particularly here in Surrey where overdoses are happening daily. A Surrey judge noted that in the first three months of 2016 there have been more than 200 fentanyl-related overdose deaths in B.C. Illegal drug users are playing pharmaceutical Russian Roulette with heroin these days as it might be cut with fentanyl. Three tiny grains of the stuff is enough to kill. Many people will likely wonder, then, why in May that same Surrey judge sentenced a man found guilty of possessing heroin containing fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking to a mere six months in jail. This isn't just pot we're talking about here. It's the chemical equivalent to a loaded gun. That the judge went for the low-end of the six to eight months sentence the Crown argued for is even more baffling. With all the publicity surrounding fentanyl and W-18, drug dealers have to know that the junk they're pedalling might well contain poison, literally. When it comes to those who peddle drugs, the courts should show little mercy. - --- MAP posted-by: Matt
