He said he received him a copy of the validated list last month. "Iyung listahan na ibinigay sa akin, validated, ibig sabihin marami nang ahensiya ang pinanggalingan pero on my part dino-double check ko pa rin," Alvarez told a press conference. He refused to identify the two lawmakers or even say their gender, but said he is convinced of the involvement of one of the two who is a fellow Mindanaoan. Alvarez, who is from Davao del Norte, said he made a series of inquiries from reliable sources, friends and other connections and found out that the Mindanaoan lawmaker is indeed a "drug protector." He said he has not yet decided if he would talk to the two legislators. President Duterte last week called thousands of mayors to Malacanang, and according to Palace officials, he reiterated his warning to those involved in the drug trade to resign or face death if they would not leave the illegal activity. Next to be called to Malacanang are governors. Last November, Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., was shot dead by policemen inside his detention cell at the Leyte sub-provincial jail last in what senators called a rubout. Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, chair of the House committee on illegal drugs, has urged Duterte to name the mayors in his final list of suspected personalities but only after thoroughly verifying it. - --- MAP posted-by:
