Contact: http://www.kelownacapnews.com/ Details: http://www.mapinc.org/media/1294 Author: Carli Berry CANNABIS ACTIVIST RETURNS Canada's cannabis-fairy is campaigning again and he's making a stop in Kelowna. Pro-marijuana activist Dana Larsen is on his second tour called Overgrow Canada, despite the setbacks of last year's tour which involved his arrest in Calgary. Larsen will be giving a speech Thursday, April 6, 8 p.m., at the East Kelowna Hall. West Kelowna is his second-to-last stop on his OverGrow Canada campaign which aims to have citizens planting plants in public locations in order to show "civil disobedience." Larsen is still facing charges and is currently out on bail, but he is expected to attend court hearings on April 9 and 10. "If anything I think it makes it more important to keep doing this and to draw attention to this issue," he said. "The idea that they're going to charge me on cannabis seeds is ludicrous on many levels," adding stores across Canada carry the seeds. He is worried about breaking bail, but he doubts he'll be spending time in jail. Calgary will be his last stop on the tour just in case something goes awry. The seeds Larsen will be handing out will not grow plants with high levels of THC, the ingredient associated with feelings of euphoria, hallucinations and anxiety. Last year, his stop in Kelowna had a packed house, with people waiting outside for two hours to get seeds. "We are aware of the event and won't speculate on any police actions that may or may not be taken," said Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey. - --- MAP posted-by: Matt
