Re Liberals introduce long-awaited bill to legalize marijuana, April 13 As a pedestrian and school crossing guard, I find the legalization of marijuana a frightening proposition. Marijuana, like alcohol, is an intoxicant known to impair users' judgment. Spot checks are regularly done to ensure drivers' and pedestrian safety when alcohol impairment is suspected. Will the government ensure the same controls are in place when the marijuana legislation is passed? How many drivers will be charged with endangering the public because of a foggy disposition caused by smoking pot? How many pedestrians/drivers will be their victims? Time will tell.
