WHY ALLOW POT ADVERTISING?

So the federal government is planning to permit the marijuana industry
to advertise. The question is why?

If people want to smoke marijuana, that is all well and good. However,
to allow advertising will only have the effect of increasing the
number of people who partake.

I'm quite sure that most Canadians who advocated for legalization
never intended that the government should permit its promotion.

According to the federal Liberals, the primary motive of legalization
was to control its use and prevent organized crime from reaping the
profits. It was not to boost usage by Canadians so that government
coffers could rake in more tax revenue.
