KIDS RUNNING AGAINST DRUGS

It will be a workout with a message.

On Aug. 16, children and teens will start their Kids Against Drugs run
through the Blood Reserve.

The two-day event aims "to keep the momentum going for awareness, and
to send a message that fentanyl and all drugs are not welcomed in the
children's lives," says spokesperson Pamela Little Bear.

"Too many children, on and off reserves and in the general community
are affected in a negative way with these drugs," she says.

The run will start at 9 a.m. at the Thunder Chief gas bar on Highway
519, after an elder offers a prayer for the participants' safety. The
route will pass through Old Agency, Farm 4, Levern, Fish Creek, St.
Paul's and Moses Lake before ending at the ice arena in Standoff.

The run is open to community members aged six to 17. Little Bear says
children 11 and younger may go home for the night if they wish, then
return in the morning - or they can invite parents to come to the
campout. She is continuing registration online at by phone at 403-892-6554. Participants are asked to get to the
starting point about 8 a.m. so registration and waiver forms can be
signed.
