Doctors and others need to know there are strains of medical cannabis that are not smoked and do not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the ingredient that causes the high. I took medical cannabis that only contained cannabidiol (CBD) in an oil form. I did not smoke it, but placed a few drops under my tongue. It caused no high or disorientation of any kind. I took this for relief from debilitating arthritic pain, prior to hip replacement surgery. I was able to stop taking the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) and prescription pain killers that caused side effects and left me drowsy and unproductive. I also used a topical cannabis cream. Medical marijuana is not a panacea, but it is a valid and important aid for many medical conditions. Sandra Collier, Stratford, Ont. - --- MAP posted-by: Matt
