DISMAYED BY POT FIX

Regarding the article Fix for pot's impact on teen brain (Sept.
13).

I read with shock and dismay that a team of Western University
researchers is boasting the discovery of a potential way to reverse
marijuana's long-term psychiatric effects on teens' brains. The amount
of money and time devoted to reversing the effects of a currently
illegal act is appalling to me.

Don't legalize a product that has been scientifically proven to harm the
developing brain. What is even more frightening is that the solution
lies in the use of pharmaceutical drugs. The only indication that
something positive may come out of Steven Laviolette's study (although
it seems more like an afterthought) is the suggestion that his team may
now look at aiding legitimate disorders such as depression and anxiety,
mental illnesses that exist without cause.
