THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN WHEN IT COMES TO POT

Dear Editor,

Re: "School trustee needs history lesson," Letters, Nov. 17.

I fully support Mayor Brodie and councillors plus trustees Ho and
Hamaguchi and other like-minded persons with their pot legalization
concerns.

May I suggest pot proponents substitute ingesting tablets identified
as DDD as an alternative to all available recreational drugs.

The history of failed reliance on education to avoid the use of
recreational drugs and abuse of prescription drugs has been
demonstrated by the overdose death tragedy.

Surely, serious and meaningful consequences must be applied in
addition to education. Why do we assess financial consequences for
illegal parking, speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, etc.,
while ignoring this available significant deterrence and financial
resource asset?

Now, in response to letter writer Brad Kilburn's suggestion that the
law against marijuana was based on an alleged "international
conspiracy to corrupt the purity of the white race."

The effects of drug abuse are not race specific. Marijuana is a known
mind-altering drug and harms brain development in adolescents. A
civilized society is responsible to protect children and youth from
known harm.

Perhaps contaminating recreational drugs with DDD could be an
effective deterrent. The application of "GROSS" factor may be
effective when education fails.

DDD stands for "Dehydrated Doggy Doo."

Why not? Apparently, fentanyl and all other unknown contents are
okay.
