Having had a friend who was a lawyer specializing in drug cases, I have
been aware of the tendency of the police towards committing perjury during
drug trials. The attitude taken by the prosecution has generally been; who
are you going to believe, the accused, a lowly drug user, or the police
officer, an upstanding member of the community. The effect this sort of
thing has on the public's attitude towards authority is tremendous. We need
to rethink our drug policies.
