Pubdate: Sat, 02 Aug 1997 Source: Victoria Times Colonist (Canada) Author: Alan Randell You seem to have your knickers in a knot because some people have the nerve to actually invoke the Charter instead of meekly shuffling of to prison like good little obedient citizens are supposed to do (July 27). Then why on earth have a Charter of Rights and Freedoms? Contrary to your surprisingly ignorant assertions, people do indeed have (or should have) the right, the freedom, to collect guns, shoot (inanimate) things and inject whatever they like into their veins. If the Charter cannot protect those freedoms, then we should, we must, tear it up and start over. You, on the other hand, seem to want to quicken Canada's transformation into a police state by simply tearing it up. Alan Randell Victoria BC Canada
