Coleman COMPARE ACTION AGAINST TOBACCO WE MUST concur with Vicki Salkin (Letters, 6 November) regarding so-called "safe injecting places" (what a deceitful term - as if there is any such thing!). Isn't it ironic that we are heading one direction with cigarette smoking, with statistics even showing a resulting decline, yet we are heading the complete opposite direction with what are considered harder and more dangerous substances. And the people pushing this are supposed to be "clever"?! Devoid of logic perhaps! Vicki Salkin has it in one when she says: "We need to be giving people, especially young people, the 'no' message, instead of 'do it, but safely'. To say no to drugs is the safest . . ." After all, that is what we are doing with tobacco isn't it? J. & A. COLEMAN Rivett - --- Checked-by: Patrick Henry
