First it was the draft, and then the immigration laws, followed by needle swap programs, pot clubs and local educators who refuse to give state-mandated tests. Today I see retaining bilingual education will be next on the list. Surely when my same-sex partner of 21 years and I go down to get married, the local San Francisco official will grant us the license, state law notwithstanding.
