DRUG RAPE TWINS SENT TO PRISON

TWIN brothers who used the "date rape" drug Rohypnol to anaesthetise women
and sexually assault them have been jailed for a total of 97 years.

Nearly a dozen women who said they were victims of George and Stefan
Spitzer listened, some weeping, as the 42-year-old identical twins were
sentenced in Santa Monica Superior Court.

Prosecutors claimed that the Romanian-born brothers slipped Rohypnol into
the women's drinks, raped them after they blacked out and videotaped the
attacks.

Police who raided the Spitzers' flat in 1996 seized seven boxes of Rohypnol
and 20 videotapes, which prosecutors say showed the twins having sex with a
dozen women, many of whom appeared to be drugged. George Spitzer was jailed
for 60 years and Stefan Spitzer for 37 years.
