CONFISCATING DRUGS IN ARIZONA

Arizona is second in the United States when it comes to confiscating
drugs.

Border Patrol agents are catching more marijuana and cocaine along the
Arizona-Mexico border. But law enforcement officials say they doubt the
busts are putting a dent in the drug trade.

Border Patrol Drug Seizures, Tucson Sector:

*14,000 lbs. cocaine

*163,000 lbs. marijuana

So far this fiscal year that began October first, patrol agents in the
Tucson sector have seized 163,000 pounds of pot and more than 1400 pounds
of cocaine.

Border Patrol Drug Seizures, Yuma Sector:

*23,740 lbs. marijuana,

*623 lbs. cocaine

Tucson is second behind McAllen, Texas, in the amount of marijuana seized.
The Yuma sector has found nearly 24-thousand pounds of marijuana, and just
over 600 pounds of cocaine.
