VISIT THE LIBRARY REGARDING Audrey Lanward's letter of July 20 on children, boredom and drugs: Although not the answer to boredom for all, parents and children could probably better utilize a facility already provided by the community (government) -- the library. They are safe, clean, and chock full of interesting, exciting, educational and fun materials. They give us the opportunity to exercise our brains -- it's kind of neat to get smart. For those of us who were fortunate enough to have parents who encouraged us to use libraries at an early age, we are never bored because there is so much to read. Although it may not be ``cool,''' parents who want a good and satisfying life for their children should take them to the library at an early age. Ask the staff to introduce and expose them to the varied and wonderful material therein. Adults who are suffering from boredom may also explore this cure. - -- Ray Gardner, Watsonville - ---
