BALDWIN IN GOOD COMPANY IN OPPOSING WAR ON DRUGS

Your recent editorial, " Focus on real 2nd District issues", took issue
with Rep. Tammy Baldwin for signing the recent letter to the United Nations
that concluded the "global war on drugs is now causing more harm than drug
abuse itself."

You failed to mention other signers of the letter included the respected 85
year old economist Milton Friedman, Reagan-era Secretary of State George
Schultz, former U.S. Senator Alan Cranston, former UN Secretary General
Perez De Cuellar and 500+ other respected and influential voices from
around the world. They have seen firsthand the immense harm current
policies are causing, and have rightly concluded a new approach is indicated

We need more leaders with the good sense and courage to realize when the
time has come to abandon failed policies and explore alternatives. Tammy
Baldwin will bring those qualities to the wide range of issues affecting
the 2nd district.
