BETTER TO WASTE MONEY?

Regarding the Aug. 31 Viewpoints letter "Count the lives, not costs" by
Gil Gray: If we could spend $100 trillion to save one life, would it be
worth it? After all, we're talking souls here. Better to waste money
doing what doesn't work rather than give up one soul. And if we can
steal the money from others by taxing them, all the better. No cost is
too great -- as long as others have to bear it.
