DRUG ROBBER FOUND GUILTY

Posing as a vice detective and robbing drug dealers of dope and cash will
likely earn a Calgary man at least a two-year jail term when he's sentenced
tomorrow.

Marty Seper, 22, shook his head in apparent disbelief after a jury
convicted him yesterday on eight charges, including robbery, unlawful
confinement and impersonating a police officer.

"The accused faces, at the very minimum, penitentiary time," said Crown
prosecutor Lloyd Robertson in Court of Queen's Bench.

Any sentence of more than two years is served in a federal penitentiary.

The convictions stemmed from two home invasions Seper took part in Nov. 28
and Dec. 1, 1996, where he and accomplice Larry Petersen flashed a stolen
badge and robbed their victims.

After pulling off the Nov. 28 job, the pair was foiled when Jason Wiebe and
his brother became suspicious of the phoney investigators and chased them
out of their Forest Lawn home.

Petersen is already serving prison time for his role and testified earlier
this week that Seper was his partner.
