PRISON FOR MAN WHOSE GRASS WAS TURF

A MAN sold pieces of turf pretending they were cannabis, a court heard
yesterday.

Carl Delgarno also sanded down Anadin tablets and tried to sell them
as Ecstasy.

He was jailed for a month after he pleaded guilty to loitering in the
Temple Bar area of Dublin where he tried to ply his trade.

Dublin District Court heard that Delgarno (20) of Limekiln Green,
Walkinstown, had been arrested on four separate occasions after he
failed to obey directions to move on.

On October 10 in Anglesea Street, he was observed offering Ecstasy for
sale and when he was searched he was found to have three sanded Anadin
tablets and three pieces of turf made to look like cannabis. Judge
Clare Leonard heard that, after he was charged, he had to be escorted
from court for his own protection because there was three people
"waiting to have a word with him". He was subsequently arrested on
three other occasions doing the same thing.
