BOB BARR UNDETERRED BY REASON

Once again, U.S. Rep. Bob Barr has managed to take a firm position against
fact and reason. This time the confused congressman has attacked a respected
medical study because all the facts indicated the need to review the
government's medicinal marijuana policy ("Barr: Marijuana study aimed at
promoting legalization," News, March 19).

Georgians already suffer the burden of vastly overcrowded prisons. The
thought of adding pot-smoking cancer patients to their ranks makes sober
citizens shudder. When politicians such as Barr call news conferences before
they know the facts, one wonders whether logic ever influences their
position.
