EX-OFFICERS NAME 3RD IN SHAKEDOWN

Two former officers of the Maywood Park District Police Department Wednesday
implicated Robert Bailey in the 1996 shakedown of a suspected drug dealer in
testimony at Bailey's trial.

Prosecutors also played audio and videotapes of the robbery for jurors in
federal court.

The suspected drug dealer turned out to be undercover FBI Special Agent
Miguel DelTorro. Bailey was then a 20-year-old cadet on the park police force.

DelTorro testified Wednesday that he was forced to drop his pants in Bosco
Park as the officers searched for cash.

DelTorro said he was concerned for his safety when he saw Bailey approach
him with a hand on his gun.

Michael Broome, a former park officer, and Charles Jones, a former
lieutenant, both testifying for the government, said that Bailey actively
took part in the robbery.

Jones admitted that he stole $500 and split another $700 with Broome and Bailey.

Jones said he took the $500 when the others weren't looking because he
thought they would cheat him if given the chance.

In a tape played in court, Bailey could be heard counting out the $700 after
the robbery, according to prosecutors Zaldwaynaka Scott and Virginia Kendall.

At the time of the robbery, Broome was already cooperating with the FBI and
wore a hidden recorder.

Both Broome and Jones have pleaded guilty to shakedowns and are expecting
lenient sentences in return for their assistance.

In testimony Wednesday, Broome said he pocketed between $15,000 and $30,000
from shaking down known drug dealers while he was on the now-disbanded park
police force in a six-or seven-month period in 1995.
