The government's 'Turning the Tide' program solves no problems - it's part of the problem. 'Turning the Tide' does mention abstinence from drugs - but it's not the focus of the program. 'Turning the Tide' talks about 'responsible drug use'. Anyone with drugs on board is no longer responsible - a fact too unfashionable to mention. 'Turning the Tide' describes needle-exchange programs and condom-protected casual sex as 'safety precautions' akin to car seat belts and bicycle stack-hats. The government is inflicting these falsehoods and half-truths on children right under our noses. Alternative programs do exist. Drug-ARM Victoria has an abstinence-based program available for schools, Their phone number is (08) 9794 9296. ARNOLD JAGO, Mildura. - --- MAP posted-by: Don Beck
