Grown-ups strolling down Smith Street! Even a mum and child. A lady holds up a banner saying - "Heroin Trials Now" and "Safe Houses Save Lives" (TMT, June 2). Who are these people kidding? Obviously, it's very dangerous to think. Better to play Yes Minister and bow to the pressure of propaganda. Better to be candles in the wind. So come on, dear drug dealers. Sing tantalisingly, for Australia is yours. We have few police, courts and prisons - and no capital punishment - to impede business. We even have the Salvation Army dealing out needles like band-aids. Thank God for the Salvos! Splendid! At the frontline of the Heroin Welcoming Committee are groups such as Steven Jolly's Militant Socialists. One minute Super Jolly battles - quite rightly - to save a school. But his latest campaign is over the top. Paul F Tobias Hawthorn - --- MAP posted-by: Richard Lake
