KILGOUR HALF-BAKED

EDMONTON LIBERAL MP David Kilgour's comments about the police chief's
recent proposals to decriminalize marijuana possession are impressively
ignorant of verifiable facts. He must be either a total moron or at least a
half-baked one. His prohibitionist viewpoint is nothing but a convenient
rationalization to justify narco-fascism, commonly known as the war on drugs.

Kilgour's opinions reinforce the falsehoods and prejudices reflected in
antiquated drug laws, primarily designed to stereotype marijuana users as
"bad or criminal people" to suit his zero-tolerance drug-interdiction
policies. He is playing one of the oldest and meanest political games there
is: creating scapegoats out of a targeted group, in this case, marijuana
users. That such politicians dominate our culture demonstrates why so many
people today are cynical and ashamed of our system of government.

(The Sun does not support the legalization of marijuana.)
