DRUG GROWER FACES PRISON

A LYME REGIS man who grew cannabis to ease his arthritis was warned he faced
a possible prison sentence. Robert Ian Coulson, 58, admitted producing the
drug.

Officers accepted that Coulson, who suffers from severe arthritis, had grown
them for his own use.

The Bench called for medical and social reports before sentencing.
Adjourning the case until September 21 they said they would be considering a
custodial sentence.

Also before the court was Jamie Coulson, 21, formerly of the same address.
He admitted possessing two small blocks of cannabis resin which were found
during the same police raid. Officers accepted that the drug was for his
personal use.

He was fined 100 pounds with 45 pounds costs and the magistrates ordered the
destruction of the cannabis.
