'DRUGS WAR' FAILING

Sir:

James Delingpole missed a couple of points in favour of legalising
drugs. There would be no touts hanging around school gates to recruit
new users and the added thrill for youngsters to be indulging in
something illegal would be gone. Given time and education, the numbers
of users would reduce, as has happened with smoking.

As a pensioner, I am not interested in having a legal drug-induced
rave-up, but I am interested in the soaring and frightening crime rate
and the cost of trying to stop the unstoppable.
