The article about drug testing employees for cannabis ( "At Work, a Drug Dilemma," Personal Journal, Aug. 3 ) has me thinking of the time Rep. Patrick Kennedy got into a car accident and we discovered he was addicted to pain killers. The article reminds us that to work a cash register at Wal-Mart you have to pass a drug test. Mr. Kennedy's case reminds us that congressmen do not have to pass a drug test. It just goes to show which job requires sober deliberation. Alan Culton Hillsborough, N.C. [end]
