A poll shows that 64 percent of Michigan voters would vote yes on instating a marijuana sales tax, 28 percent would vote no, and 8 percent are undecided, according to Fox 2. But Gov. Snyder said he doesn't think this is the solution. Snyder's idea, to raise the sales tax, isn't gaining as much support though. The reasoning is their medical marijuana case has caused extensive controversy within their community. Steve was issued a Medical Marijuana Registry Identification card two years ago to treat his epilepsy, and his wife Maria is his state-designated caregiver. After police found cannabis growing in the Green's trailer, the couple - who has since moved to Lansing - has been going through battles in two courtrooms since January over their right to grow marijuana. The Oxford Township Planning Commission has decided to send the text of a medical marijuana dispensary zoning ordinance back to a review subcommittee. The commission this week did not vote on whether it will recommend the opening of medical marijuana dispensaries to the township. The commissioners still have to decide whether these dispensaries should be open to only card-carrying patients and caregivers or if separate rooms of the dispensaries will be allowed to sell other products to the public. The text of the Zoning Ordinance 67A will be sent back to the Ordinance Review Subcommittee for changes to discuss what the dispensaries should be able to sell and to whom. [continues 553 words]
