Regarding "Congress warming to marijuana for vets" (May 22): Does anyone think that contributions or promised marijuana revenues might be responsible for Congress' climate change? Listening only to reps from the marijuana industry may not the best source of unbiased information on marijuana.

Congress has an obligation to create sound public policies that don't put public health or safety at risk. Multiple research studies have found marijuana does not alleviate post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms, impedes effective PTSD treatment, results in less progress towards recovery and users are found to be more violent than nonusers.

Per the American Psychiatric Association, "There is no current scientific evidence that marijuana is in any way beneficial for the treatment of any psychiatric disorder with current evidence supporting a strong association of cannabis use with the onset of psychiatric disorders."
