Mary Lee Roberts, if Nixon hadn't been taped saying smokers smoke to get high, drinkers drink to have fun, then went on disregard his own commissions study advise to legalize, Consumer Report came out years ago, '82, advising from their studies it should be legal in every sense, none of this would be happening. Assuming Mary wanted to avoid back alley transactions and restricted her smoking to the privacy of her own home, her crime was invented. Prohibition is what has made all the injustice. Sad to see another victim lose to the unfounded laws. Maybe Mary should move to Canada; they show compassion. Suzanne Fox Kalispell, Mont. [end]
Reading the glowing DARE graduation report made me want to share our experience. Sure, expose the younger ones to drugs. Our very protected third-grade grandchild came home after her exposure to DARE and proceeded to put straws up her nose and tried to "snort" any powder available. Enough already. Children are not ready at such a young innocent age to be exposed to drugs. Will they next expose them to a "flasher," to warn of the dangers of child molesters? That's about what I feel happened to our innocent one. DARE failures have been well-publicized; keep them away from your young ones! Suzanne Fox, Kalispell, Mont. [end]
