Who are the cannabis clan that are pushing marijuana cultivation in Butte County? They are the minority. The Inland Cannabis Farmers Association (ICFA) is attempting to promote growing "artisanal" marijuana in our county. I suggest readers do a Google search for the names of artisanal pot and you will find varietals called Green Crack, Triple Diesel, Grape Skunk, Super Lemon Haze and Girl Scout Cookies, to name a few. Does this sound like medicinal marijuana to you? Who smokes this stuff? Not the majority of Butte county citizens, I'm sure. [continues 56 words]
Calling all pot growers (whether you are a career or sidelines grower). Let's see a show of hands. How many of y'all voted for Proposition 215, the medical marijuana ordinance? OK, good. Everybody raised their hands. Now, how many of y'all voted for Proposition 19, to legalize marijuana? What? Only myself and a few others have their hands in the air. How's about that? Some say money is the root of all evil. I say hypocrisy is the root of all insanity. For those who have eyes to see, it is evident that growing marijuana has always been about the money, not the medicine. Thank you, Board of Supervisors, for passing the marijuana ordinance. Re "Pot shots" (Newslines, by Meredith J. Cooper, Dec. 23): The first thing I notice about Robert Galia is he looks old beyond his years, most likely due to his substance abuse. And I am really tired of his blanket statements, such as that 99 percent of cannabis users are nonviolent. If this is the case, why do so many of the pot growers I have come into contact with own an arsenal of guns? And is this statement in regard to the nonviolent cannabis users/growers in our country or Mexico or both? Cynthia Stevenson Cherokee [end]
